As an entry for Coolest Projects 2018, I decided to create a "Safety Box" using a Raspberry Pi 3B and a few sensors. After 3 months, the project was fully operational. It could detect, flames, smoke, gas, loud noises ("like a window breaking"), motion, flooding at ground level, dripping from the roof, extremely high or low temperatures, and would notify the owner via email it it detected any from the list. It would also send a picture via email if it detected motion. It also had a tilt sensor, so that if the owner was in trouble, they could "accidentally" or "secretly" knock it over the box to send an email to their trusted contacts.
